About Me

Hi there! I’m Zaq, I’m a friendly and welcoming new counsellor, passionate to provide the safety and warmth of a supportive space. I hold a Bachelor of Counselling from the University of Notre Dame, Fremantle and my practice is built upon connection, empathic care and a deep understanding of today’s mental health challenges.

My path to counselling was profoundly influenced by my own experiences with identity development, navigating family dynamics, and understanding trauma. I’ve had the privilege of facilitating group therapies and training under a trauma-informed specialist. I use approaches such as Schema therapy, ACT, CBT and through my de-escalation training, I hope to support you in a meaningful way.

Beyond this, my work is deeply informed by my lived experience as a young queer person of colour. This unique perspective allows me to connect my practice with a range of diverse individuals empowering their congruency and wellbeing. My academic studies extensively covered adolescent, family, and children's therapy, including interventions, research, risk assessments, and crucial referral pathways.

I welcome everyone and am committed to helping the mental health outcomes of those who identify as CALD, neurodivergent and in LGBTQIA+ communities. I live and work on Whadjuk Nyoongar Boodjar and pay my deepest respect and appreciation to the traditional owners of this land.
