The concept of forest school and wild nature play sessions have become popular world-wide in recent years and for good reason... nurturing your child through facilitation of creative, nature-based learning with a focus on play is supported by research and is vital for healthy child development.

About the event
Whether you home-school your child or they attend a mainstream school setting (like mine) Nature Play Sessions will compliment your child's overall development by allowing for a different learning experience outside of the "normal" classroom. We make use of natural art, clay, unstructured play, make-believe, problem solving, weaving and more. The activities  are designed as an open-ended and unstructured  'provocation' - within the Reggio Emilia Pedagogy, this is an invitation for your child to participate and explore if it feels right to them. I like to allow children to listen to their own cues whilst still facilitating inclusivity.
This weekly group session runs for 9 weeks in Term 1 beginning in February 2023 in Fremantle, WA and has limited spaces available. Using concepts from a number of areas to promote healthy development through facilitation of nature and play based creative learning. It promotes and supports a number of learning outcomes within the Australian primary school framework and your child is provided with a certificate of attendance at the end of term.Â
Allowing a range of ages from 5 to 8 years, bookings are for a 9 week term session on Wednesdays from 9:30am to 11:30am and caregivers are to attend with their children. All materials are provided and parents are to dress their children in weather appropriate gear, provide food and water and ensure appropriate supervision of their child. In the case of severe weather, the session will be moved held in an altenrative setting to shelter from dangerous conditions (hail, damaging winds, lighting.)Â
This program is designed and faciliatted by Rose Manning who has been offering children's workshops in Fremantle since 2018 and has a decade of experience. Rose has lived in Fremantle for several years, his a mother herself and has a background in Reggio Emilia Pedagogy, Child Centred- Play Therapy, Mental Health Counselling, Art Therapy and Yoga.
